"As language access becomes increasingly important across all sectors of society, translation and interpreting are being brought to the forefront of our global consciousness as never before. Policy on how, when, where, and by whom language access is provided intersects with the skills, techniques, theories, and ethical standards employed by translators and interpreters on a daily basis. At the same time, translators and interpreters are becoming increasingly specialized in terms of subject area (legal, medical, financial, education, diplomacy, marketing, etc.) and are taking on new roles as businesspeople (accounting, advertising, social net-working, resource management, etc.). "

We invite graduate students, faculty, and professionals in the field to submit proposals to present current research, papers, publications, skill-building workshops, updates on the state of our industry, and any other contributions you feel may advance the dialogue and movement toward professionalization.

Date: 3rd week of every month, January - June 2016

Presenter Honorarium: $100
