Colleagues,

I’m pleased to share with you a new continuing education training series for working interpreters: Alverno Interpreter Institute. The first workshop, focusing on mental health interpreting, will be held on Saturday, April 20 th from 9am-12:30pm on the Alverno College campus. Regardless of the languages you interpret, your attendance will enable you to complete the following outcomes:

Conference Objectives:

   • To provide information to interpreters regarding the mental health services available to community members in the Milwaukee area
   • To practice interpreting in mental health settings through scripted and unscripted role plays and exercises
   • To network with interpreters from the area
   • To work with students in the Alverno Master of Science in Community Psychology program to expose them to the skills necessary to work effectively with an interpreter

In addition, you may earn three continuing education units (CEUs) towards your CMI or CHI certification requirements.
