SPECIAL EVENT - FREE TO MATI MEMBERS/$10 Non-Members
April 23, 2020 | 3:00pm - 5:00pm Central Time
In this session we will consider the business of interpreting/translation from a variety of perspectives to develop a successful business plan. This includes, among other things, evaluating the quality of the product being offered, how the client sees it, how to promote it, what the competition is, what the market may bear, the cost of doing business, figuring out your rate, basic accounting and invoicing, follow-up practices for sustainability, and client follow-up and satisfaction.
Presenter: Helen Eby
Helen Eby has been working in translation and interpreting since 1984. She has been participating actively in the ATA in different roles for quite a few years, helping with the Spanish Division, the Business Practices Education Committee, and the Interpreting Division of which she is the current Administrator.
Helen is an ATA certified translator from and into English and Spanish. She is also involved in the ASTM Standards for Translation. Of course, she keeps it real by keeping it local, working with her local association in Oregon!
As the team leader of The Savvy Newcomer, Helen listens carefully to everyone’s voice and trusts each team member to do the work once a task has been delegated. She also reaches out to potential authors to involve them in her work.
